Assemblies

We use assemblies to reinforce shared values, expectations, and key messages across the school. Assemblies provide students with time for reflection, celebration, and guidance, helping them to understand what is expected of them and why this matters.

Through assemblies, students develop a stronger sense of belonging, responsibility, and purpose, supporting positive behaviour, aspiration, and personal growth.

Attendance, behaviour and achievement review

We use form time for students to review their attendance, behaviour points, and achievement points from the previous week. This helps students understand their progress and reflect on the impact of their choices.

Students also record achievements in and out of school, including interests and positive habits, in their personal portfolios. This encourages self-reflection, responsibility, and pride in progress over time.

The Big Read

We use The Big Read to build strong reading habits and improve literacy across the school. Students read together as a form, using carefully chosen texts that support vocabulary development, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading.

The programme exposes students to a wide range of authors, genres, and ideas, supporting both academic success and personal development while building confidence and engagement with reading.

 Votes For Schools

We use Votes for Schools to support students’ personal development and student voice. The programme gives students regular opportunities to discuss current issues in a structured, age appropriate way, helping them to develop critical thinking, oracy, and respect for different viewpoints.

As part of the programme, students take part in a weekly vote, allowing them to share their opinions and see how their views compare with others locally and nationally.

 Uniform and equipment checks

Form tutors use form time to check uniform and equipment, ensuring students are prepared for the day ahead. These checks reinforce high expectations and support consistency across the school.

This routine helps students develop organisation, responsibility, and readiness to learn.

Year 11 core subject revision

For Year 11, form time includes focused core subject revision, led by a member of the senior leadership team and delivered online via Microsoft Teams, with form tutors supporting their classes.

Revision sessions rotate between English, Mathematics, and Science, providing regular reinforcement of key knowledge and exam skills to support students in their GCSE preparation.
